Carl Cox – Kommen Zusammen (Nicole Moudaber Remix)
The past several years have seen Nicole Moudaber rise as a widely elected icon of the techno main stages and global underground circuit alike. Though the press has more commonly focused on the scarcity of women serving her well-oiled craft, the real wow factor with the MOOD proprietor has come in the impeccable balance of stunning live decorum and an ability to match it with accomplished studio ventures. Amid a year of scattered live landmarks and label duties for the upper echelon of the genre’s elite, her ongoing allegiance with Carl Cox’s reformed and kicking INTEC imprint made a return for the summer of 2014 a more than likely occurrence. As the follow-up to January’s One Day Later EP, the London-based heavyweight takes on the boss man himself, bringing her relentless techno tendencies to the label once again for a clash of late summer genre royalty.
Moudaber’s take on “Kommen Zusammen” drives a dark and characteristically boisterous backbone into Cox’s original cut, one that culminates in 12 minutes and 45 seconds of unadulterated techno fit for both the jilted generation and the genre’s expanding fan base alike. This is the sort of dark, mechanically charged and meticulously structured techno that has to be experienced from start to finish. The coherence and unapologetic energy is everything Moudaber has come to stand for on the modern landscape, offering yet another reason to believe the hype where the underground’s leading lady is concerned.
