After 2+ years playing New York’s hottest nightclubs, The Chainsmokers tapped into pop culture’s main line with “#SELFIE,” a tongue-in-cheek, self-aware ode to the all the bottle rats that undoubtedly yelled along to its spoken-word vocal and turned the club track into a worldwide phenomena. From there the pair proved their worth through a series of Hype Machine-topping remixes, showcasing the more serious side of their production acumen. With both bases covered, Alex and Drew return to original production duties for their next pop culture anthem, “Kanye.” A track more about self empowerment than Yeezus himself, the New York duo enlist the help of Siren, a little known vocalist whose top line is about to turn this pop trap production into the pair’s next radio hit.
