Electric Zoo releases prohibited items list, bans Camelbaks at this year’s festival

After last year’s festival ended in two tragedies that left the third day of Electric Zoo canceled, organizers have moved to crack down and tighten up both their security measures and their drug awareness initiatives.  Kicked off with the Come to Life campaign and its mandatory PSA, Made Event has adjusted its banned items list to reflect a sharp pivot in its policy. While Mad Decent Block Party and HARD Summer banned Kandi and most of the usual raver accessories, Electric Zoo has gone a step further and banned Camelbaks.

According to a post on the festival’s Facebook page, Camelbaks provide an easy way to store illicit materials and have therefore been banned. The decision has caused an uproar, with many fans citing dehydration as a very serious problem that far outweighs the potential for smuggling drugs into the festival.

According to Made Event additional water stations will be provided with free cups.
