Enzo Bennet – The Colours EP (Incl. Eekkoo Remix) [EP Review]
The list of artists who have risen through mau5trap Records’ ranks isn’t an extensive one, but those names have gone on to become some of electronic music’s biggest players. Skrillex has risen to music super-stardom, Feed Me developed into one of the genre’s elite, and more recently, Eekkoo has emerged as an up-and-coming talent that has a blindingly bright future. Deadmau5’s taste-maker imprint is guided by one of electronic music’s most exacting stars and the results have spoken for themselves since the entity’s creation back in 2007.
Enter Enzo Bennet, the French producer who is the newest name to be welcomed to the mau5trap family. With original mixes “Colours” and “Zen” fusing both a progressive flair and throwback atmosphere, the pair of tracks feel right at home among the label’s previous hits. Rounding out the EP is a remix from the first artist deadmau5 followed on Soundcloud, and Eekkoo provides a much darker approach to “Colours,” featuring a gritty sawtooth synth and precise drums.
