HARD Summer likely won’t return to Whittier Narrows

Just a month after HARD Summer took over Whittier Narrows, reports are coming in that the festival will not return to the L.A. County-managed park. A public information officer for the county’s parks department has announced that there are no plans for the event to be held on the grounds in 2015, and according to inside sources this year’s arrest numbers, fence hopping and death may have something to do with it.

77,000 revelers took over the grounds for this year’s event, where 140 arrests were made over two days and one 19-year-old girl died of an assumed overdose. Though not the first 100+ arrest weekend or even death for HARD, it was the festival’s first time at the park, which it was forced to relocate to while L.A. State Historic Park undergoes renovation. With the renovations scheduled to be complete “sometime in 2015” it is not clear where HARD Summer will go with Whittier Narrows off the table, but festival fans will likely get answers after HARD Day of the Dead later this fall.
