While Ariana Grande has been off campaigning for her upcoming album and claiming the pop world along the way, Cashmere Cat teases insight with their formerly-unexpected collaboration. Though working quite well in live settings in thanks to its bassline, “Be My Baby” skews heavily towards Grande’s elegant R&B tendencies, more than arms length away from her EDM-dabbling circa “Break Free.” Somewhere just between her radio-savvy signals and vocal calling, Cashmere Cat delivers on production with a minimalistic approach to smooth electronica that allows the singer to shine where she does so best, working his wonders with its undertones.
Ariana Grande’s sophomore album My Everything will be released this Friday with additional production from David Guetta; ahead of time, MTV is streaming four selections including “Be My Baby” and a stunning duet with The Weeknd.
