Avicii joins Chinese singer Wang Leehom in collaboration for ‘Lose Myself’
Following the remarkable success of Avicii‘s country folk crossover album True and hints about his latest works with Bon Jovi, System of a Down and Billie Joe Armstrong, not many can doubt the producer’s ability to combine unexpected musical elements with dance music production to create something great. However, it might be impossible to have expected the unexpected with Avicii’s latest collaboration; seemingly coming from out of left field, the Swedish DJ has partnered with Chinese pop singer, Wang Leehom for new track titled, “Lose Myself,” directly translated from the Mandarin Chinese lyrics (‘Let me lose myself’).
A few weeks ago, Wang Leehom posted a teaser video announcing his collaboration with an anonymous, internationally recognized artist. As the video panned through his studio time with the mysterious figure, many now will be able to recognize the stature and features of Avicii as the two work together over a piano. The result of their studio time has been unveiled as “Lose Myself,” described as an “east meets west” genre collision, Avicii’s unmistakable melodic builds and catchy breakdowns float underneath the American born, Taiwan-based singer’s powerful vocals.
