Electric Forest to return to Rothbury for the next 10 years

Electric Forest has overcome lengthy legal disputes to return to its home in Rothbury for the foreseeable future.  Despite a judge ruling against AEG Live, the concert promoter and Double JJ Ranch have come to an amicable agreement, inking a deal that would lock Electric Forest in for the next decade. Norm Halbower, a part owner of the ranch, confirmed the deal on Tuesday, September 2 after the previous owner, Progressive Resorts LLC, could not pay its bills by the May 19th deadline.

“I can assure you that there will be a festival next year,” Halbower said. “Part of my reasoning is they have had representatives going through our forest checking trees and doing preliminary stuff like they do every year.”

Not only has The Forest secured its home for the next ten years, but ABA has also invested $2.4 million into developing the property since May, proving to be a boon for not only dance fans but the community and the ranch itself.

Halbower himself attended the festival and was taken back by the crowd it fostered.

“I’m 72 years old and I attended the festival this year,” he said. “It was such a pleasant experience. I met educated people from all walks of life, including architects and brilliant minds of stage and theater. The show the festival puts on is a sight to see.”
