Flying Lotus confirms Pharrell not among collaborators for album number five

Flying Lotus’s fifth artist album You’re Dead is scoped for an early October release and expectations are already soaring for the follow-up to Du?lity. With Kendrick Lamar confirmed as a collaborator for his first LP since 2012, rumors of Pharrell William’s involvement in the project have now been quashed by the LA album shark.

FlyLo attributed the “Happy” hit monger’s decline to the theme of death – a focal point for the album according the man himself. He told NME in a recent interview: “Pharrell wanted to contribute too. But he had issues with the kind of songs to write. He didn’t wanna make a self-fulfilling prophecy. He didn’t want to write a song about death and then die the next day and I totally respect that.”

With Snoop Dogg, Herbie Hancock and his own Captain Murphy moniker confirmed to feature, a slightly morbid stimulus is unlikely to make You’re Dead any less imperative from the North American talent. Check out the latest taste of album number five below.
