Over the past half decade or so, Piemont have experimented with all sorts of techno and house. For their debut release on Mark Knight’s Toolroom, the German duo have put together a spirited house song. Frantic blips and occasional sirens give the song a ’90s vibe, but it has all of the polish of a 2014 hit. Piemont expertly pair late ’70s samples with unrelenting percussion, and the end result is a stunning late-night anthem. “Crowned” is out now on Toolroom Records.
