ZHU – Gun (CHVRCHES Cover)
Already, the new wave of crossover deep house has been entranced by ZHU and his enigmatic persona; a figure of few words and yet a distinctly idiosyncratic musical style that has erupted as a statement of its own accord. Now, the California-based producer has reinvented a CHVRCHES original in his own delicately deep soundscape. Though the original of “Gun” centers around the distinct vocals of CHVRCHES lead singer Lauren Mayberry, ZHU’s cover is instead lifted by a nu disco influenced chord progression and supported by his now signature voice that remains indistinguishably male or female.
While ZHU currently remains silent about any forthcoming plans, his new musical explorations can only speak to exciting prospects to watch out for.
