Bose drops lawsuit against Beats

Back in July, Bose filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Beats, arguing that its competitor had unlawfully stolen ideas pertaining to noise cancellation technology – best found in Bose’s QuietComfort headphones. At the time, Bose attempted to block imports of Beats Studio and Beats Studio Wireless headphones in to the US. Now, however, the plaintiff has asked the International Trade Commission to cease its analysis of the case, as both sides claim that they have reconciled.

While the two headphone companies will not be entering the courtroom, Bose and Beats will continue to go head-to-head as they race to market dominance. Bose recently signed an exclusive deal with the NFL deeming its products the league’s “official” headphones, resulting in a fine if players wear Beats on game days. In retaliation, MacRumors announced that Apple may be ousting Bose’s full product line from its stores.
