DA Premiere: OWSLA’s newest members Carmada drop video for ‘Maybe’
Characterizing the OWSLA squad by one particular sound or genre is simply impossible. The Los Angeles-stationed imprint born out of Skrillex‘s revered taste-making ability is known for being one of the most diverse crews out there, offering up a vivacious range of sounds and themes. The newest members of the troupe fit right in, as the Carmada duo is announced as the label’s latest addition. L D R U and Yahtzel‘s genre-hopping collaborative side project is coming stateside, and to celebrate, the pair of Aussie beat makers are dropping their new video for “Maybe” while the ink on the deal is still fresh.
The tune is the new duo’s first official offering — the track was uploaded to their Soundcloud account about a month ago. Now the video is dropping, rounding off a mean introduction to Yahtzel and L D R U’s collaboration. “Maybe” is a grumbling bass monster that creatively straddles the fence between club and concert settings. Carmada bends and weaves the vocal pitch into a gargling hell-raiser, with a pounding bass line and swift sample cuts that can only make you bite your lip and nod you head. The video features a beach conquering diva who cools Venice down with an in-your-face ice cream social that everyone is invited to, whether they know it or not. And what better way to welcome the newest labelmates to OWSLA than with ice cream and forward-thinking bass music?
With this being Carmada’s very first offering, we can bet that by the time their forthcoming Realise EP reaches the wire, L D R U and Yahtzel’s individual styles will come together to make for one exciting release.
