Future bass, tropical deep, nu disco…call it what you will, this remix by Louis Futon of Future’s “I Won” takes the atmospheric hip hop ballad from the bedroom and throws it into the sunshine. Gone is the plaintive, oversexed vibe of the original, replaced instead by an upbeat and optimistic bassline. In terms of style, it clearly follows in the footsteps of artists like Flume and AlunaGeorge. It’s refreshing to hear a clean and airy remix of a hip hop track that isn’t all 808’s and aggressive, grimy snares.
