Hardwell has today seen his second consecutive year as the DJ Mag Top 100 champion. The Revealed Recordings founder and global festival staple held the number one slot once again this year ahead of Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, joining Trance icon Armin Van Buuren and high-riser Martin Garrix in the top five of a year of mixed results across the board.

True to the leaked edition of the poll last week, Deorro took the spotlight as highest new entry for 2014, with last year’s inaugural luminary Dyro gaining positive traction and holding his corner in the top 30. Swedish heavyweight Steve Angello sits ahead of both Swedish House Mafia peers Axwell and Ingrosso as the highest ‘house’ riser of this year’s poll, whilst new entrant from Oliver Heldens, Firebeats, Zomboy and Audien worked against unprecedented drops for Eric Prydz, Richie Hawtin, Knife Party and Madeon.

Hardwell, who recently confirmed plans for his impending album and second wind of his I Am Hardwell concept, said in an official statement:

“Wow – this is a dream that just keeps going! I’m extremely proud to find myself holding on to the title of #1 DJ in the world for another year. Last year was a moment in my career I had spent 10 years dreaming of but to be back on stage again, picking up the award for a second time in a row, is beyond my wildest dreams. To my fans, the music lovers and everyone else along the way during this roller coaster 12 month period, I just want to thank each and every one of you! Your support for my music and love for this scene is truly inspirational. I’m really looking forward to what 2015 will bring, with the arrival of my first full artist album, a new world tour and a bunch of other exciting projects, I know this new chapter in the journey is going to be the best part yet!”

With mixed signals as to the weight of the big room sound and some very questionable new entries thrown into the equation, the 2014 edition of the DJ Mag Top 100 remains as trivial and up for debate as ever.
