It’s been a year of varied yet valiant strikes for Le Youth and his balance of indie dance and commercial house jams. Off the heels of Spinnin’ Deep debut “Girl,” The Knocks’ recent feel-good single “Classic” receives a pinch of the positive stamina currently associated with Wes James’s retro-favoring antics. Cool, crisp and immediately upping the tempo to a toe-tapping pace, Le Youth brings the warmer sound of melodic house music into the equation for a cut that comes close to outstripping the original as MVP. We’re spoilt for choice where the commercial house spectrum is concerned, but Le Youth has customized it so radically of late that his contributions come second to none. It’s not deep and it’s not a radio friendly fluff-up, but it’s yet more signs of youthful exuberance in a crowded market place.
