Topping Billboard’s Hot Dance chart in 2007, “Calabria” dominated radio airwaves and DJ sets for over a year. Now seven years later courtesy of Musical Freedom and Dutch upstarts Firebeatz, the original mix has been retooled and reinvented for modern electronic music’s big room likeness. The iconic synth riff is left in place and backed by a snare drum that assists in building momentum, before the Dutch pair infuse an exhilarating plateau that makes use of the original’s credentials. Having been played by Tiësto of the majority of 2014 around the globe, Firebeatz’s latest release has arrived with an excess of qualifications already in its resume.
