Tomorrowland confirms proposal to expand to India but organizers remain in search of venue
In early September, we first caught wind of prospective plans of a Tomorrowland India edition. It seems as though Tourism Minister of Goa, Dilip Parulekar, will soon be quite well-versed, if not overwhelmed, by the sudden influx of electronic music interest in India. Parulekar told regional news source Goa Com, “Apart from the proposal received from Percept Company and Supersonic to host musical events in December, we have also received a proposal from one of the most notable global musical festival groups, Tomorrowland.”
Further, Parulekar shares that “the event organizers have approached us and have shown interest to host the event in mid-January, but the responsibility for identification of land will be [left to] the group since they require 3.5 lakh (100,000) sq. meters of land, which is difficult to [find.]”
For now, it seems the fate of a Tomorrowland India lies in the hands of SFX and ID&T and whether the promoter will be able to find and obtain licenses for a space large enough to host a new edition of the festival in India.
