David August’s April performance in Berlin has been hailed a contender for Boiler Room set of the year and it’s clear to see why: it’s downright mystifying. The classically trained Hamburg protégé is a regular on labels like Innervisions and Diynamic and as such, his set is flooded with delicate deep house gems. The performance starts out with an engrossing bit of ambient work before David picks it up a bit with his beautiful revision of Kollektiv Turmstrasse’s “Last Day.” As the set progresses, August takes the crowd on a mediative journey while incorporating plenty of entrancing tracks and some live piano improvisation.
