Goshfather and Jinco link up with Sasha Grey to flip ODB’s ‘Ghetto Superstar’
In the 1990s, America’s music market was flooded with hip-hop and R&B. And in 1998, before Drake and Lil Wayne had made their names, there was Ol’ Dirty Bastard. One of the founding members of the notorious Wu-Tang Clan and pioneer of his own gritty brand of hip-hop, the late, great emcee’s work still lives on today. Now Goshfather and Jinco have teamed up with adult film star and budding DJ Sasha Grey to deliver the latest homage to ODB, remixing one of his most iconic hits, “Ghetto Superstar.”
With one of the most widely recognized hip-hop hooks of all time, the track is pushed in a new direction altogether, though still clinging to the original chorus before an ultra-catchy breakdown of funky deep house chords. Ultimately, the recreation creatively uses the contemporary trends of dance music to breath new life into a fan-favored classic.
