Kraver – Fires Burning (Original Mix)
New York institution Nurvous Records deal in musical gold dust. The past 12 months should have their A&R’s feeling rather smug, but the label still has a little fuel for the fire where 2014 is concerned. Back on the label for the first time since 2012’s “Supermoon,” Dutch indie dance outfit Kraver return on fine form, following up remix duties for both Ninetoes and Bearstronaut with a brand new nostalgically charged original.
Warm, wobbly and rife with retro sounds, “Fires Burning” is an essential melting pot of hallmarks from the sound’s often painfully overlooked playbook. Solid keys and supple bass hooks playfully intertwine, carrying the immaculate top line towards yet another justification of where the indie dance circuit is becoming a more valid antidote to electronic dance tedium for the global market. Kraver don’t release every month, but a sparing approach has made them no less essential to proceedings for the final quarter.
