Moby announces re-release of ‘Hotel: Ambient’ and brand new live experience
Electronic music has reached the point where more and more artists are beginning to experiment with the live aspects of performing. Whereas DJs used to be able to get behind the decks with custom lights and a few visuals to satisfy fans, with the growing hunger for surprises, artists have had to innovate to stay on top. From Porter Robinson to ZHU, musicians have begun integrating hand-picked visuals in tandem with live performance integration to shape the perfect euphoric experience.
The legendary Moby has announced that he will be unveiling his brand new live performance on December 16th at the Masonic Lodge in Los Angeles in conjunction with the re-release of the limited bonus disc, Hotel: Ambient. Already sold out, Moby will deliver a second performance at a fundraiser for the Integratron in Joshua Tree on December 21st.
“I first heard, and heard about, ambient music on the b-side of David Bowie’s ‘Heroes’. As much as I’ve loved writing songs and dance tracks I’ve always been obsessed with the ways in which ambient and instrumental music can transform the space in which their being listened. I also really appreciate the subtle and at times un-demanding qualities of ambient music, and the ways in which it can unconventionally reach people emotionally.” – Moby
With multiple of his ambient tracks having been featured in various films, Moby has teamed up with cinema guru David Lynch to construct an immersive visual experience. The setup will consist of hand-picked imagery and archival footage manipulated by visual artists to be projected on three large screen to supplement his dreamy music. We can expect Moby’s live show to be extremely unique as he says he will intermix ambient, dance, and experimental music to take show-goers on a rapturous experience.
Hotel: Ambient will be released for free download and purchase on December 16 via mobygratis.
