Steve Aoki reveals plan to start producing deep house
Up until now, getting champagne showered and grooving out in your mother’s basement had nothing in common. That was until Steve Aoki decided he wanted to get his feet wet with the biggest trend in dance music — “deep house.” In an interview across the pond with Mixmag, the animated performer discussed his plans to release a few new deep house tracks. The dip into a new genre comes from Steve with the promise of still maintaining his current animated persona and big house catalogue, but he says his new music will be released under a different moniker he has not yet shared with fans. Dim Mak’s boss says he’s changing the name for a smart, yet obvious reason: “I don’t want to confuse people who associate me with my usual sound, and I want it to be judged on its own merits. We’ll see how it does.” Yeah Steve, we’ll see.
