Caribou wins ‘Essential Mix of the Year’

Each December, Pete Tong comes together with his BBC Radio 1 counterparts to deliberate on the top two-hour Essential Mix of the year. This year, the judges included Tong, B. Traits, Danny Howard and 2013’s winner, Eric Prydz, to name a few.

Dan Snaith, best known as Caribou, stood tall against his competitors Ten Walls, Joy Orbison, Bicep and Jon Hopkins, and has been named the recipient of 2014’s ‘Essential Mix of the Year.’

Caribou’s Essential Mix is relatively new, having only aired in October — the same month that his most recent LP, Our Love, was released. Snaith features artists along the lines of Joy Orbison & Boddika, Pearson Sound, Les Sins, and Anthonty Naples as well as two then-new tracks under his Daphni alias. Listen to the mix in full below.
