DA’s Weekend Party Picks for Art Basel Miami 2014
It’s Basel time, and if you’re currently in Miami you’re probably already experiencing the higher than usual amounts of traffic on the road. As frustrating as this can be for locals, with the flocks of tourists and heightened parking prices also come a slew of artist appearances, forward-thinking events and parties all up and down the Magic City. If you happen to be in town, here are some parties worth hitting.
Friday
When Pigs Fly by LINK Miami Rebels at Trade
Who: Sasha, Dubfire, Carl Craig, Matthew Dear
When: Friday, December 5 at 11 pm
Why: The LINK Miami Rebels team never fails to deliver, and as a venue, neither does Trade. Intimate, dark and always full of good vibrations, Fridays at Trade have easily become one of the most beloved night spots in the city among locals and only the most scene-savvy visitors. This is a party for the most discerning techno lovers, and it comes with the kind of heavyweight lineup that doesn’t happen often.

Saturday
Music On Opening Party at Story
Who: Marco Carola and Bill Patrick
When: Saturday, December 6 at 11 pm
Why: Because Story’s nightlife mantra seems to be ‘go big or go home,’ they chose Art Basel weekend to launch Marco Carola’s first-ever Music On residency in Miami. Carola hand-picked the venue to be the location for Music On Miami, and the opening party this Saturday will feature an extended set. We wouldn’t expect anything less from the techno mogul.

Small and intimate, don’t let it’s size fool you – the two-room lounge-esque venue packs on of the city’s most coveted sound-system and serves up bass so thunderous you can actually feel it in your throat. The Drumcode parties at Treehouse are always a smashing success, so if you’re a fan of the label (or dark European techno in general), this is your night.
