Diplo curates three playlists on Spotify featuring rap, house and rock
Diplo has proven over and over again that he really isn’t into genre constraints. In keeping with the holiday spirit of giving, the Los Angeles-based producer curated three Spotify playlists for Entertainment Weekly. They have absolutely nothing in common with each other, except that they feature a lot of pretty damn good music.
The first playlist is pretty much what you’d expect from Diplo’s more trap-oriented side as a producer. It features 63 tracks by artists such as Migos, Gang Starr (oh yeah), Kanye West, Chris Brown, 2 Chainz, Drake, Wiz Khalifa, Schoolboy Q, and Juicy J, to name a few.
The second playlist nods to a more ‘future house’ sound, with 34 tracks by Oliver Heldens, Duke Dumont, AlunaGeorge, Bixel Boys and Tchami.
The third (and longest) playlist is perhaps the furthest away from anything you’d ever expect to hear Diplo play onstage, but fans will love it all the same if they ever went through a psychedelic rock phase. It showcases 77 tracks by bands like The Bees, Pink Mountaintops, Sleepy Sun, The Kinks, Dead Meadows and Wolf People.
