Etnik compiles OWSLA’s best of 2014 in hour-long mix [Free Download]
In the spirit of the holiday season, OWSLA put together their very first EGGNOG compilation for fans, slapping a slim price tag on a wide collection of the label’s biggest cuts of the year. In tandem with the imprint’s annual Nestivus Drive, the proceeds from the 28-track compilation went to benefit Bridges For Music’s construction of Langa Music School in Capetown, South Africa. Now, as a quick follow up to EGGNOG, 22-year old German techno prodigy Etnik has put together an hour-long mix paying homage to all of OWSLA’s top jams of 2014.
The mix opens with Jack Ü‘s smash “Take Ü There” alongside Kiesza, appropriately setting the tone. Alongside this, the hour-long bout packs a number of punches, featuring Snails and Antiserum‘s gritty mosh hit “Wild,” Skrillex and Trollphace‘s deafening “Burial” remix, and Moody Good‘s thundering hip-hop crossover “Hotplate.” Sprinkle in a grimy number by newcomers Mija and Ghastly, some Jack Beats, What So Not, Milo and Otis, and Heartsrevolution and you’ve got an EGGNOG mix with a hint of flavor for every taste.
OWSLA had a commanding 2014, and with Skrillex building his militia around the newest, most-forward thinking sounds out there, 2015 is shaping up to be another huge year for the Los Angeles-based imprint. Always celebrating “good people, good times,” OWSLA has given away Etnik’s mix of their greatest hits of the year for free.
