After a stunning remix of Avicii’s classic “Seek Bromance,” Newcastle producer Jerome Price turned his attention to Aaliyah’s “Rock the Boat.” A shifting warehouse cut from start to finish, Price’s rework exhibits his mastery over a collection of familiar UK garage nom de plums. Swirling swells of white noise and ominous saws collide with a wonky array of bass and snare hits underneath Aaliyah’s sultry refrains. With his sound already catching fire abroad, Price’s next at bat perfectly re-imagines the source material into an afterhours throwback.
