SoundCloud’s next round of investment will make it a billion dollar start-up

In an effort to compete with Spotify, Beats Music, and YouTube Music Key’s ever-expanding budgets, Soundcloud‘s investment backing could be going up. According to the Wall Street Journal, the Berlin-based company is in discussions to raise close to $150 million dollars, which would expand its value its over $1 billion dollars. Although one of the music industry’s premiere music streaming and uploading services, Soundcloud has continued to fall behind the likes of its competitors when it comes to big arrangements with major labels. With a cash infusion as large as what’s being reported, SoundCloud will be given an excess of opportunities to push itself further into profitability and expand its business model.
