Flying Lotus is writing a film
Is there anything Steven Ellison can’t do?
From championing experimental hip hop as Flying Lotus, to laying down verses as Captain Murphy and curating music for video games, he’s truly an anomaly. According to his Twitter, his latest venture includes a foray into the film world. While details are sparse, it isn’t the first time he’s shown his love for the medium. Back in 2010, FlyLo performed a live scoring of the 1962 avant-garde film Heaven and Earth Magic at the Ann Arbor Film Festival. On top of this, his music videos are notorious for their experimental direction and psychedelic imagery — some of which, including “MmmHmm,” have even gone on to win awards in the past.
Here’s what Ellison had to say about his latest film work:
“@DonaldSweaters: @flyinglotus any Murphy this year??” Probably. I’m just having too much fun making beats and writing this stupid movie
