Governors Ball announces lineup, Deadmau5 to headline
Since 2011, Governors Ball has been New York’s answer to Coachella. Eclectic rosters, top notch production, and an idyllic vantage point of Manhattan’s skyline have worked together to create New York City’s best full-scope music festival.
This year the festival returns to its home on Randall’s Island with a lineup that rivals Coachella’s announcement yesterday. While less EDM-focused then its West Coast peer, Governors Ball is not without top tier electronic talent. On top of the heap is Deadmau5, placed in a headlining slot that rivals the prestige of Electric Zoo — Randalls Island’s other massive fest. Then there’s hometown boy, A-Trak, and his brother Dave 1 with Chromeo. Plus Ratatat, Big Gigantic, Kiesza, Gorgon City, Flume, Kaytranada and many more.
The rest of the card features Bjork, Drake, The Black Keys, Florence and the Machine, and the best that the indie scene has to offer. For anyone looking for a festival with great electronic acts without the prescriptive main stage presence, Governors Ball is sure to please.
