Hogan’s Beach in Tampa, Florida closes its doors to dance music

Hulkamania is no longer running wild.

Hogan’s Beach, located in Tampa, Florida, has lost its license to hold large-scale music concerts thanks to recent EDM events. The decision is a result of three warnings on December 23rd when 5,000 partygoers irritated the neighborhood with their drunk and disorderly conduct.

The long famed Tampa institution on the Courtney Campbell Causeway is currently working with city officials to tread lightly and within the town’s ordinances. “We have agreed to work with the city and we are working with them on a daily basis to resolve these issues,” said Stephen Michelini, to the Tampa Tribune.

Neighboring residents complained that Hogan’s Beach was operating as a major concert venue hosting 50 EDM shows a year including Afrojack and Skrillex — with music blaring until 3 a.m.

The club has since canceled all future events, but city officials still plan to conduct noise testing during the Spring Break season. If it passes, Hogan’s Beach could apply for a special events permit four times a year, but with local scrutiny at an all time high it looks like the Hulk’s days are numbered.
Retraction: The article originally stated that the December 23rd event was a Dyro and Bassjackers event. That event was held on November 23rd, not December 23rd.
