Lady Bee feat. Rochelle – Return Of The Mack (Oliver Heldens Remix)
For all the talk of whether ‘future house’ was anything new or the exaggerated coinage of ‘deep house,’ there was no overcomplicating a breakthrough year for Oliver Heldens. With chart-topping endeavors across the field and an aggressive expansion onto the global live circuit, the Dutch youngster is capping a year in the spotlight with his own rendition of an R&B classic.
Where “Return of the Mack” topped the UK charts in its original form back in 1996, Helden’s take on this more recent re-imagining plays to an audience now fully accustomed to having house music in the popular chart space. Expertly pandering to the sound’s current vogue whilst playing on nostalgic chops from across its dotted history, there is little denying the confidence and character Oliver Heldens has brought to the modern landscape.
If the remix sounds similar to his popular take on “Latch,” it’s because Heldens has borrowed aspects from the song. He noted on Facebook: “there were some label problems with the Latch Remix, so I used the drop for this remix now.”
