Seth Troxler is well-regarded for his abilities behind the decks, but his production skills don’t often get the credit they deserve. Teaming up with lesser-known New York mix engineer Phil Moffa, the two have unveiled “Meet The Butcha” from their forthcoming two track EP on Hypercolour. As far as house and techno goes, it doesn’t get much more credible than the London imprint and the duo’s collaboration lives up to the label’s reputation. Carefully constructed arpeggios string the track along, yet it’s ultimately the growing bassline and percussion that provide the foundation for its momentum. On the whole, it’s a hypnotizing piece from the pair — perfect for maintaining the groove mid-set without toppling things into peak-time territory.
