Part 1 of The Big Cat Remixed came out last September and featured remixes by Suara heavyweights Andre Lodemann, Bontan and Harry Romero. Four months later, part two in the remix series is finally out, and sees techno and house maestros Jay Lumen, Doorly and Reboot take on remixing duties. Tasked with trying his hand at “Balls” by Coyu, Jay Lumen delivers his own “Dusty Fat Bass” remix. True to its name, the remix puts the bassline front in center and infuses the track with enough soul and funk to light up even the darkest basement party. Doorly takes on Coyu’s “Unexpected Souvenir” and turns it into a space-y, brooding atmospheric gem with eerie pauses and an unexpected breakdown that washes over the listener in shower of dissonant notes. Lastly, Reboot gets to work with Coyu and Ramiro Lopez’s “1, 2, 3…Fire!” The result is a jacking, beat-driven big room techno driver that is both chic and infectious.
