Annie Mac to take over for Zane Lowe on Radio 1

Annie Mac, one of dance music’s most quintessential tastemakers, announced today she will be taking over Zane Lowe’s show slot on Monday-Thursday at 7-9 pm and become the new host of Radio 1’s weekday music show starting March 9. The British host originally started out as a Broadcast Assistant to Zane Lowe when she first joined Radio 1, and has risen through the ranks to now spearhead a show that has become a governing outlet for new music. With Lowe’s recent move to Apple, Annie will add this show to her schedule on top of her staple weekend show that takes place on Fridays from 7-10 pm. She commented to BBC about the opportunity:

“I am so excited and humbled to be asked to do this show. The thing I love about music radio is those private epiphanies it provides. Having 11 hours of airtime a week to share those moments with music that has no boundaries, is beyond a job, it’s a privilege. And to be following in the footsteps of Zane Lowe, a broadcaster that I respect and admire enormously, is a huge honour. I can’t wait to get started.”

Phil Taggert will be taking over Annie Mac’s previous show, the ‘Musical Hot Water Bottle,’ which takes place on Sundays 10pm-1am
