Benzi and Ryan Hemsworth share BBC airwaves for Valentines Day Diplo and Friends mixes
Diplo delivered a double dose of love on his weekly BBC Radio 1 hosted radio show, Diplo and Friends, this past weekend. Bringing guests Benzi and Ryan Hemsworth to the decks, each producer dropped an hour-long studio mix in the spirit of Valentines Day. Benzi steps to the decks first, offering the seventh installment of his Girl Trapz series, opening the mix with Jack Ü‘s tightly wrapped collaboration with AlunaGeorge, “To Ü.” Although the tune has been scarcely heard before, Benzi introduces his mix with a long-awaited listen to one of Jack Ü’s most anticipated outputs. You can expect that one half of the TWRK duo would mix in some of their upcoming material as well, along with new Lido and DJ Sliink music. Working in Cashmere Cat, Mark Johns, Carmada, and George Maple, Benzi covers a range of sounds, all tied together by in a very well-rounded hour-long session.
Ryan Hemsworth takes the reigns for the next hour of the radio show, dropping his own collection of exclusives and unreleased material to follow Benzi’s contribution for his second Diplo and Friends session. The quiet Secret Songs curator gets the ball rolling with a bootleg of one of Blink 182’s most iconic hits, and from there covers material by the likes of Tennyson, RL Grime, Rae Sremmurd, Hot Sugar, and a slew of his own unreleased music.
