Nile Rodgers honored for his lifetime achievements by the Recording Academy
Nile Rodgers and Chic left an indelible mark on the disco wave and the Recording Academy’s Producers and Engineers wing acknowledged his achievements at a pre-GRAMMY ceremony earlier this week.
One of the most accomplished jazz composers of our time, Rodgers has produced on over 200 projects, including work for David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Duran Duran and Madonna. Not to mention his short stint alongside two robots, Daft Punk, and his three GRAMMY win at last year’s ceremony.
The award comes following even bigger news of Chic’s return via a new global deal with Warner Bros. Slated to release their first single in over 25 years on March 20, Rodgers and Chic are poised to re-ignite disco thanks to dance music’s most recent rise to prominence.
Chic’s biggest hit, “Le Freak,” is also being inducted into the 2015 GRAMMY Hall of Fame this year.
