Shiba San drops two-track ‘Planet Floor’ EP on Dirtybird

Claude Vonstroke‘s San Francisco-based horde of house heroes, Dirtybird Records, has released its first EP of 2015, with Shiba San’s latest offering leading the way. The enigmatic French producer has put together a two-track EP called Planet Floor, featuring a pair of plucky, sliding G-house originals. Both tunes play off of similar motifs of deep, funky dance floor-designed grooves, although both tracks pack their own distinct flavors, confirming Shiba San‘s creative versatility in the studio.

The EP’s introductory tune, “Planet Floor,” begins with dramatic, sinister melodies as it quickly cuts into a thumping arrangement of bouncy basslines and keen sample work. Sharp high-pass filtering throughout the tune over boisterous synths meant to rope people onto the dance floor kick the short collection off, seamlessly aligning with “Show Me, Show Me.” The EP’s second cut features Shiba’s take on Old Dirty Bastard’s iconic rap jam “Shimmy Shimmy Ya.” The tune is a shuffling rump shaker, primed for the seedier side of after-hours house music. Crisp claps and gurgling low end bass round off “Show Me, Show Me,” capping a short but sweet release, as Shiba San cruises out of his breakout year and into 2015.

Keep getting down with Shiba San here.
