Snapchat caters to music marketing by adding dual music playing and recording functionality

Avid users of Snapchat are all familiar with the frustrating feeling of trying to record a video Snap with music from your phone’s iTunes playing in the background, only to be left in total silence while recording. Though the inconvenience seems minute, Snapchat’s recent update allowing the app to access application programming interface (API) while simultaneously using music playing applications like SoundCloud, Spotify, iTunes, and Pandora has swung open a new door for music industry marketing.

Snapchat gives its audiences a direct, uncensored eye into what friends and even celebrities are doing on a day-to-day basis, making it an exclusive function that originally launched it into popularity. The app has already been picked up by electronic music figureheads like Skrillex and Diplo to tease previews of upcoming music, but now Snapchat’s update will guarantee even more opportunity for artists to self-promote sneak previews found no where else except for their Story.
