Warner Bros Records inks worldwide deal with Nile Rodgers and Chic
Warner Brothers Records has just announced the formal signing of Chic and its beloved renaissance man Nile Rodgers. Inking a worldwide recording deal with the renowned composer, producer and more recent electronic dance collaborator, the label will release Chic’s first artist album in 25-years later in the year.
As well as pairing with the renowned disco act and its infamous axe man, Warner Bros will form a distribution partnership with Rodger’s own Land of the Good Groove imprint, which he set up alongside Michael Ostin. Having landed back on the radar with landmark collaborations alongside Daft Punk and Avicii, Rodger’s more recently confirmed that the album’s first single would drop in quarter one, with the full album scoped for release in June.
The announcement comes ahead of tomorrow’s induction of “Le Freak” to the 2015 Grammy Hall of Fame, kick starting a year of nostalgic progression for Nile Rodger’s and the legacy of Chic.
