Amon Tobin to release space-inspired EP, ‘Dark Jovian’
Amon Tobin isn’t just an artist, he’s an audio/visual wizard. His ISAM shows are regarded as some of the most groundbreaking in electronic music, while his sound design skills are a thing of legend. It’s been four years since Amon Tobin’s last album, and it’s safe to say we’ve been hungering for some more original material. Luckily, the Brazilian producer has a new EP planned for Vinyl Record Store Day (April 18), consisting of five new originals and three remixes.
Tobin said of the EP: “I made these tracks a year or two ago after binge-watching space exploration films. People have, from time to time, described things I’ve done as ‘scores for imaginary movies,’ which has always irritated me, but on this occasion it’s sort of true. Even so, what I was really trying to do was to interpret a sense of scale, like moving towards impossibly giant objects until they occupy your whole field of vision, planets turning, or even how it can feel just looking up at night.”
Dark Jovian will arrive encased in a white rubber wheel with two vinyl 12”s inscribed with etched markings.
