Armin van Buuren revives ‘pure trance’ sound with new Gaia track ‘Carnation’
On the final day of Ultra 2014, Armin van Buuren and Benno de Goeij emerged on the A State of Trance mega structure draped in dark, hooded robes for the debut live performance of Gaia. Promising 90-minutes of unadulterated trance, the duo lived up to their claim.
While many of trance music’s biggest names have been criticized for their departure from the classic sound, Gaia are one such force keeping the roots of the genre alive. Armin recently presented the duo’s latest creation on his famed radio show A State of Trance — a track he said he’s been road testing for months now. “Carnation,” as it’s been titled, brings the same kind of fervent energy from past tracks like “Empire of Hearts” “Humming the Lights” and will surely be a staple at his upcoming performance from Ultra.
