Beckwith entered the market under the banner of modern house music made with soul. Earlier cuts for Anjunadeep and Nurvous kept him in line with the cream of quality imprints whilst offering an initial spotlight for the New York producer. Debuting on Love & Other this month, his long awaited follow-up to “Take Me Home” takes an old school twist without the need to dust for musical cobwebs.
Charged with a soulful vocal take from Mark Borgazzi, “The Words I Got” fuses traditional American hallmarks with a nod to the bass-favoring flare that has found its way back onto the menu across international club floors. There’s a classic touch to this one, but without the rusty undertones often found when house artists attempt to tip back to the old days. Beckwith’s agenda still sounds more heartfelt than the majority of the modern crop, complimenting an otherwise unfiltered flush of mighty tunes from Love & Other and their global house consortium.
