He’s regarded by many as a cornerstone of Chicago house music — a title some would say has earned Derrick Carter the right to poke fun at the new generation of predictable, press-play celebrity DJs saturating the airwaves and the current mainstream ‘EDM’ market. Whether or not you find them true or condescending, the Chicago house heavyweight’s recent social media attacks on #Derphouse DJs are undeniably hilarious. Passive aggressive, unapologetic and weighed down with more than a hint of cynical disappointment at the apparent future of dance music, his rant included jabs such as:

Ever the good sport, Carter wrapped things up by thanking his fans for a “fun and funny day,” saying it had been “a blast being able to be silly and ridiculous while holding to the notion that the best jokes have a kernel of truth to them.” Of course, no social media “epic troll rant” would be complete without a little bit of self-deprecating humor:
