Justin Jay unveils first single off his debut EP on Pets Recordings

With college graduation in his grasp, Justin Jay can’t help but daydream about what is to come when he starts his career as a full-time musician. With appearances on Holy Ship! and HARD Summer to his credit already, it’s only a matter of time before the USC senior maximizes his musical potential. The Dirtybird protege isn’t going to wait though until he has his diploma in hand to make his next move, as he announces the future home for his forthcoming Momentum EP on Catz’ ’n Dogz’ esteemed Pets Recordings.

Consisting of three distinct musical takes, Justin Jay’s fourth EP will give fans an in-depth look into the various stimuli that fuel this young musical genius’ creativity. Kill Frenzy will be the only cameo on the EP with the two Dirtybird heavyweights coming together for their second joint venture titled, “Momentum.” The other two singles will be solo projects by the LA talent, and he has given fans their first taste with “You Give Me Butterflies.” Deviating from his usual home in the darker depth of the house abyss, Justin Jay illustrates his musical interpretation of a gorgeous Southern California day at the beach. Constituted by shimmering flute whistles and vibrant synth flutters, “You Give Me Butterflies” is a true testament to this promising talent’s extraordinary melodic aptitude and his vision for the track can be summed up in his own words below:

As I’m finishing up an incredible last year of college, and getting to do all of these amazing things in music, it’s felt natural making happy, lighthearted songs that really capture my mood these days. I’ve spent a large part of the last year exploring darker sounds and textures. I definitely want to continue experimenting in that direction, but I wouldn’t want to neglect my goofy, cheerful side either. “You Give Me Butterflies” is a carefree day at the beach, spent with your friends, acting like 8 year-olds.
