Marina and The Diamonds – Froot (St. Lucia Remix)
Marina and the Diamonds released “Froot” back in November, and Oliver Nelson put his spin on the track the very next month. Now we have a version from St. Lucia, who remixed “Froot” in anticipation of the release of Marina’s album of the same name. While the original and Oliver Nelson remix were endlessly bubbly and charming, St. Lucia gives the song an air of mystery that’s every bit as spooky as it is enchanting. Unchanged, however, is Marina’s voice, which is as strong and charismatic as ever. Ultimately, St. Lucia’s remix bears little resemblance to either the original or the Oliver Nelson remix; the fact that three versions of the same song can be so different but all so good is truly a testament to the versatility of “Froot” as a song and the power of Marina’s voice.
Marina and the Diamonds’ Froot will be out in the U.S. next Tuesday, March 16.
