Monstergetdown – Fear of Death (Modus Remix)
The techno scene in Los Angeles is experiencing something of a golden age. Event series like Minimal Effort and Prototype are bringing top notch underground talent to the city on a regular basis; meanwhile, upcoming acts like Modus are holding it down for the local techno contingent.
An alumni of Insomniac’s Discovery Project, Modus has been building a name for himself with a steady string of originals and remixes — the latest of which is a take on fellow Discovery Project winner MonsterGetDown and his single “Fear of Death.” Modus takes the original and turns it into a whopping techno weapon with a bassline mean enough to make Julian Jeweil smile. Clocking in at seven minutes, it’s a relentless remix that hardly lets down its pummeling guard for even a second.
