Movement Detroit announces phase 2 lineup
For the last 15 years, Movement Festival has served as one of North America’s most important dance music events. By celebrating the roots of Detroit — where underground dance music first flourished under the wing of Atkins, May, Saunderson and more — Movement honors one of the city’s greatest legacies: techno. In 2015, Movement is setting the bar high. After a truly stacked phase 1 lineup, it was hard to imagine how the festival could possibly improve the inaugural announcement. Yet, with the unveiling of phase 2, it seems Movement has done just that. Genre pioneers Kevin Saunderson and Derrick May will spin back-to-back, while Juan Atkins, the legend himself, will perform under his Model 500 alias. Squarepusher brings his live show to the festival, while newer stars like Paul Woolford, Maceo Plex, Brodinski, and Lee Foss have been added. Carl Craig and Mad Mike Banks will collaborate under the guise of Detroit Love, while Jimmy Edgar and Machinedrum will unite their talents for a rare performance as JETS.
