Sónar expands to South America with new events in Argentina, Colombia, and Chile
Sónar’s global expansion continues as the Spanish festival brand has recently announced plans to establish itself in South America. In December of this year, Sónar will host events in Buenos Aires, Bogotá, and Santiago.
Sónar stands unique in the festival world for its integration of technology and music. By aligning tech conferences with some of electronic music’s most forward thinking acts, the festival brings together two naturally synergistic communities for a celebration of art and innovation. The new South American editions will follow the flagship event, Sónar Barcelona, in June, and will see the brand partner up with some of the most successful promotional teams in the region.
Ventura Barba, Sónar executive director, told Billboard, “There has always been an interest from Sónar in what is going on in South America. Put that together with the booming of both music festivals and interest in electronic music in South America, and it makes sense for us to establish our festivals there.”
Sónar Buenos Aires will take place on December 3, while SónarSound Santiago de Chile on December 5, and Sónar Bogotá on December 7.
